Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
As a consultant, my focus is on learning, cognition, behavior, and development—particularly in educational settings or at home. I work closely with parents and families to address behavioral challenges, especially those related to children with developmental, emotional, or behavioral needs. I also support families through the special education process, offering guidance on school-based concerns and helping determine when referrals to medical professionals or licensed counselors may be appropriate for further assessment.
In contrast, a licensed therapist (such as an LCSW, LMFT, LPC, or psychologist) provides clinical mental health services and is qualified to diagnose and treat mental health disorders. Their work is broader in scope and not limited to educational settings. Licensed therapists work with individuals, couples, or families on issues such as:
-
Anxiety, depression, and trauma
-
Relationship and family conflicts
-
Substance use and addiction
-
Personal development and coping strategies.
Both roles are important and can complement each other. My role is to support the educational and behavioral needs of children and families, and to guide them toward additional services when more specialized clinical care is needed.

You can expect someone who is a compassionate and dedicated listener, genuinely committed to helping others. I strive to be empathetic, kind, and approachable, creating a safe and supportive space for you and your family. I will serve as a resource provider and a sounding board as you navigate challenges, offering guidance and encouragement along the way. My goal is to support both you and your child in reaching your family’s unique goals—whatever they may be.
Yes—I can provide support to families navigating the challenges of raising a child with special needs. I offer basic guidance, encouragement, and help understanding behavioral and developmental concerns. For more intensive or specialized support, I can guide families toward the appropriate professionals, such as medical providers or the school’s special education department.

The length of our work together depends on your family’s specific needs and goals. Some families may only need a single consultation, while others may benefit from ongoing support over 4 to 6 weeks. In some cases, we may schedule check-ins or follow-up appointments over a 3 to 6 month period to ensure continued progress and address any new concerns that arise. My goal is to provide flexible, personalized support—based on what works best for you and your child.
One of the most powerful things you can do is simply listen to your child and try to understand their perspective. When your child is upset, your ability to stay calm and regulated helps them feel safe and supported.
It’s also important to accept your child for who they are, while working with them—not against them—to build new skills and behaviors. The goal isn’t to force change, but to gently guide and support their growth in ways that respect their individual needs and challenges.
Your patience, consistency, and compassion make a lasting difference.
The cost depends on the level of support your family needs. Below is a general outline of my consultation services:
-
Initial Consultation (60 minutes):
$100 – Includes review of concerns, discussion of goals, and an outline of next steps.
-
Follow-Up Sessions (45-60 minutes):
$75 per session – Ongoing guidance, behavior support strategies, and progress monitoring.
-
Short-Term Support Plan (4–6 weeks):
$400 – Includes initial consultation, weekly sessions, email support, and a written action plan tailored to your child.
-
Extended Support Package (3–6 month check-in model):
$500–$1250 – Includes an initial consult, monthly check-ins, ongoing guidance, and coordination support (customized based on family’s needs).
-
We will meet virtually using Google Meet and you will receive notes from each virtual meeting within 24 hours of the call. My meeting availability is generally Monday through Friday 9am-2pm CST, although alternatives may be requested for unique scheduling challenges.
